Welcome to World Bistro!
As the world generally refers to anywhere on earth and while bistro simply refers to the Parisian
concept of a small restaurant serving moderately priced simple meals, mostly
homemade, these two words almost encapsulate the paradox of my interests – to see
and experience the world and yet still feel at home despite modest resources. Non-intimidating
but still of quality.
Here, I share my thoughts on food, travel, development and other
interests in between. Hopefully, some of you would find the articles useful,
inspiring, and help you succumb to your own unique calling. I’m still on that
journey of discovering and “living” in the process, and this is my little
effort to document the mundane and the milestones in this thing called life.
Having just returned from Geneva, Switzerland, I hail from the Pearl of
the Orient – Manila, Philippines. Despite having about 7,107 tropical islands
(China is trying to get some of them!), I confess to like more of the world’s
temperate regions. But I do admit to becoming an outdoor-convert and getting
excited when the sun is actually out. I like walking, hanging out at parks, and
anywhere there’s a river or a lake. I was recently based in Germany, and have
also spent some time in the UK and in the Czech Republic. Oh Praha! It always
keeps on calling!
So here you’ll see entries at the nexus of food, travel, design,
sustainable living, global citizenship, urbanization, and other universal
truths that matter most – relationships. I don’t expect you to pack your bags
or shell out a massive chunk of your savings to go on holiday or even quit your
job. My intention is to make the most out of this “staycation” wherever I might
be while still being in touch with my core values and living in a suitcase (or
two, or three). And yeah, be a proper adult yet keep my inner Bohemian at bay. Even
when I finally stay put.
Hope you and enjoy reading and please react when something hits you!
Cheers,
Cristina (ohne H)
